In particular, what was notable about the chart were the significant declines across acute care, primary care, and psychiatry residency slots filled. (And if there was ever a time we needed more psychiatrists...) The number of slots available is up significantly, the number filled is down. That has led to some pretty wild discussions.
Declines of 5% to 12% in projected new entrants to primary and acute care ought to be sounding sirens all across medicine and government.
