The number of respondents reporting work environment and flexibility as bigger issues than pay, as well as those reporting physical assault by a patient or a patient's family member, was surprising.

The American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology (AANA), until August 2021, was called the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists. What a difference an "ology" makes. The American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) argues that the word "anesthesiologist" refers specifically to a physician and that the AANA should not be allowed to trademark their new name. It will take another two or three years to get a decision in the case.
The ASA claims that the new (ish) name for the AANA will confuse patients and "create discord in the care setting, risking patient safety." We expect to see a lot more of these types of legal cases, legislation, and lobbying as scope-of-practice battles increase over a shrinking compensation pie—which suggests there’s a different enemy here...
