    Plan to Allow Seizure of Patents

    We’ll put this one in the realm of unintended consequences. Sounds neat, here’s a tool to make misbehaving commercial interests behave better. The 1980 act which allowed use of federal patents by commercial interests had the same carve-out, but it hasn’t been used in 40-odd years. Threatening a bigger hammer probably just shifts research into private hands.

    It’s nice that GS2211 stayed, but the constant uncertainty of funding, the decreasing reimbursement, and the impact of the understated inflation rates on costs are absolutely eating public clinics, smaller private clinics, independent hospitals, and so on.
