The Battle Over Noncompete Clauses: A Closer Look at Physician Shortages and Patient Care in Rural America

We’re pretty clear about use of non-competes in healthcare. Just no. There’s some edge cases involving private practice formation or research jobs - but if it impacts patient care and care continuity, you have to prioritize patients. It’s all over the news lately because the FTC is considering proposals to ban certain types of medical non-competes. But here’s a poll and reasoned discussion from Medriva.

    Change Healthcare Hack

Ransomware hacking attacks against healthcare providers have been ramping up and up. By far the biggest, a hacking group taking over the payments processor Change Healthcare back in late February, is still percolating through the healthcare system. Reactions are about what you’d expect. Insurers stopped pre-authorizations, prescriptions went unfilled, and payments to hospitals stopped. Congress is mad at the hospitals for depending on large payment processors and is threatening fines and regulation. Situation normal…

What we suspect isn’t getting said much right now is the impact that AI plays in the increase in hacking attacks. An AI-enabled hacker can target and work on a lot more systems than someone doing it manually.
