AI Content Enhancements in Challenger Courses (15 External Calls)

In the changing world of medical education, staying at the cutting edge of technology and pedagogy is not just an advantage — it's a necessity. We recognize that the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into learning resources is pivotal in building a transformative educational experience.

Conversational AI is a new innovation in the field of education, and the introduction to Large Language Models (LLM) in education is only a year old. The current models we’re using at Challenger are great, but they’re also new.

The AI Disclaimer: Here’s where we add our big disclaimer about AI in medicine. What you are seeing is not really artificial intelligence, it’s just a very, very sophisticated search and summarization engine. We think it’s pretty awesome. The library we use talks in 21 languages, both written and spoken, and does an awesome job on information about diseases and conditions. But the material is only as good as the underlying data, and neither the data nor the algorithm is perfect. Be aware that it can make mistakes.

We’ve loosely divided the AI tools we’re building at Challenger into three categories.

    1. Content - tools used on the underlying data that goes into the courses.
    2. Internal - tools used on data generated by the LMS and CMS, like scores and question grades.
    3. External - tools that call external libraries to enhance courses.

The 15 enhancements that we’re talking about in this article deal with category #3, some of the external calls to LLMs to provide additional learning materials.

These enhancements are not just additions to our curriculum; they represent a significant change in how medical professionals engage with and absorb complex medical knowledge. From AI-generated case studies to comprehensive pharmacology deep dives, these tools are tailored to offer a more nuanced, interactive, and practical learning experience. Each enhancement has been meticulously developed to ensure that learners don't just memorize information but truly understand and apply their knowledge in real-world scenarios.

As we step into this new phase of enhanced learning, we're really looking forward to you joining us in exploring these features. Think of them as more than just tools for your education; they're part of a bigger picture, a collaborative effort to grow and adapt in a field that’s always changing. We’re eager to hear what you think about these 15 AI enhancements and how they fit into your learning journey. Together, let's uncover how these features can not only enrich your understanding but also help us all stay in step with the evolving world of medical knowledge.
