Pfizer Joins Direct-to-Consumer Drug SalesFirst Lilly, now Pfizer. Please note that we’re not just talking about drug companies filling prescriptions directly; we’re talking about drug companies writing prescriptions. Complicated Intra-Abdominal Infections IDSA UpdateThe IDSA has released updated guidelines on complicated intra-abdominal infections (IAIs), covering risk assessment, diagnostic imaging, and microbiologic evaluation. Key recommendations include using the APACHE II scale for risk stratification, abdominal CT for adults with suspected appendicitis, and ultrasonography for pediatric patients. The guidelines emphasize the need for intra-abdominal cultures in immunocompromised patients and suggest limited routine cultures for others.
