Fair Access in Residency (FAIR) Act, Resident Physician Shortage Reduction Act

Love those legislation names. HR 2389 wants to create 14,000 new allopathic/osteopathic funded GME positions over 7 years. FAIR (HR 751), among other things, proposes that residencies can (read: must) accept COMLEX-USA and USMLE as equivalent tests, and accept either score. They don’t require DO acceptance, but there’s a reporting requirement tied to reimbursement on number of osteopathic and allopathic applications received by a hospital.
